Learning

Over the long weekend, I was learning some new post-production techniques. Some of my older non- commercial projects acted as guinea pigs. I was happy with the end results with distinctively more multi-layered effect, gradients and textures.

More Catching Up on the Blog..

These are illustrations for the weird and mind-blowing Brave new World by Aldous Huxley.

Shifting the Scene..

Despite sluggish & nippy spring, it was all transformation and shifting the scene here. As the year started, we turned things upside down from get go. Here's the summary:

1. THE BIG MOVE
We fell in love with a super-old, derelict, falling apart, squaters-demolished building in Bristol's arty Stokes Croft. A weird compilation of narrow buildings, old cottage with industrial warehouse and disused chicken-wire factory. quirky? You bet!.
Not thinking twice, we packed up, waved an emotional goodbye to London and decided to bring the building back to life and create a vibrant art hub there. We are only at the beginning of a long-running project, but we are bursting with excitement.

I was very sad to leave the wonderful Absorb Arts Studios after magical four years there...

But after some effort removing squatters' mess, new airy art studio appeared. The only thing missing is access stairs - oh well, climbing up the ladder whilst balancing canvasses and brushes - is just way more fun!

2. NEW WORKS!
As the dust settled after the move, I painted and painted. New paintings started to appear - one after another. Here's the first one, others waiting to get photographed - to come soon!!

3. SPRING TRIP TO ITALY AND POLAND
The end of March was brilliant. I went to check out the book fair in Bologna - to see what's hot in illustration world. Good fun, great people, some mind-blowing talent. I had some great meetings, which resulted in some good commissions and kicked off cooperation with the Advocate Art illustration Agency. On the way back, I stopped of in Poland for Easter break. Mmmm sooo good.

4. ART SHOWS
In the meantime, I had my paintings exhibited at the Modern Artist Gallery in Whitchurch and One Alfred Place in London.

5. ILLUSTRATION CA AWARD
The most AMAZING thing happened - my works got awarded in the Communication Arts 13th Annual competition. Big deal! the Annual and the award statue are in the post, probably flying over the Atlantic as we speak :) Cannot wait to put my hands on them!! Will post pics soon
